At Home with Ehrenfest and Kepler – an abstract allegory of the four seasons.
A four panel series, known as a tetraptych. Abstract allegorical representations of the seasons exploring the concept of art as both an investigatory vehicle as well as the product of intellectual discovery. The project serves as an inquiry into the nature of reality, using Kepler’s laws as the predictable, classical framework for the seasons, Be it the hushed sacred sleep of Winter, the raking half glow of Autumn, the blushing green petrichor of a Spring shower or the shimmering weight of Summer’s blinding sunlight – human existence is replete with the ephemerally sublime moments. The initial inspiration for At Home with Ehrenfest and Kepler was an photograph image of luminaries* on a forest floor during the winter solstice. They put me in mind of the saffron robes of Buddhist Monks—which as I see it ground the high-level scientific and philosophical concepts in a magical, albeit tangible experience.
